The Power of the Pause
Emotions can rise quickly. One of the most powerful strategies for navigating challenging emotions is something so simple that it’s often overlooked: the pause. Pausing even for five seconds gives your brain a chance to shift from a reactive state to a reflective one. It’s a signal to your nervous system that you are in control, not your emotions.
Strategy for the Week:
Practice a "five-second pause" anytime you feel like you are reaching a level 10. Whether you are responding to an email, speaking in a meeting, or having a difficult conversation, remember to pause when you feel the tension building. Count slowly to five, breathe, and then proceed. You will notice the diffence in your mind and body, helping you respond with greater care and clarity.
