Back to Zero Weekly: Giving Voice to Your Feelings

Welcome to Back to Zero Weekly: Big Emotions, Simple Strategies

Each week, get one, quick, actionable strategy to help you manage emotions, build self-awareness, and strengthen your relationship with yourself and others—creating greater space for joy.

Giving Voice to Your Feelings

Big emotions feel less overwhelming when you give them a name. For example, when you say, "I’m feeling frustrated," or "I’m feeling anxious," you shift activity from the emotional brain to the thinking brain. This simple act builds emotional awareness and reduces intensity.

Strategy for the Week: Each day, pause once to name your emotion out loud or in writing. No judgment, just acknowledgment. ("I’m feeling tired." "I’m feeling proud.") The more you practice, the more fluent you become at managing your emotions, not just feeling them.
